Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow were involved in a furious war of words on day three of the ongoing Test between India and England at Edgbaston.

There was absolutely no dearth of fireworks at the start of day three of the ongoing Test between India and England. Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow had a go at each other during a brief heated exchange.

The incident took place in the 32nd over of England’s innings when Bairstow was facing Mohammed Shami. It happened after Bairstow was beaten by an incoming delivery from Shami. After the delivery, Kohli walked towards Bairstow from the slip cordon and both exchanged few words.

Kohli soon became animated after Bairstow told him something and did not hold back. Even though Bairstow tried to calm things down with a pat on Kohli’s back, the former India skipper was having none of it. He kept saying something angrily to Bairstow from the slip cordon and even asked to shut up.

Kohli asked Bairstow to stop talking and focus on batting as he made it clear that he was not happy with the latter’s time wasting tactics. The two on-field umpires, Aleen Dar and Richard Kettleborough had to step in and calm things down between the two stars.

It did not take Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow to bury the hatchet after the unpleasant incident. Right after the over ended, Kohli was seen speaking to the umpire before Ben Stokes patted on his back. Kohli then walked towards Bairstow to playfully punch him before going to his fielding position.

Meanwhile, Bairstow has put up a stunning fight with bat to help England recover from a poor start. At the time of compiling this report, England were on 237 for 6 with Bairstow batting on 103 and Sam Billings on 23. Earlier in the game, India scored 416 in their first innings.
