SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner, Mayank Markande is compared with star leg spinner Rashid Khan by former Pakistani skipper, Rashid Latif. While in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Markande has picked six wickets in two games played this season.

In IPL 2023, so far SRH has won two games and lost the same number of games. Aiden Markram-led side won their previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 23 runs.

Ex-Pak skipper compares Mayank Markande to Rashid Khan as his googly is unreadable-

“Remember that name, Mayank Markande. He has pace, he is fast through the air. Ravi Bishnoi is good, but he hasn’t succeeded in giving the ball that loop in the air,”

“This guy is a Rashid Khan-type of bowler with a different angle. Batters had difficulties reading his googly. We will see him in future as well. I haven’t seen him play that much, but I saw him bowl yesterday and I think in two years time, he can be a great bowler,” said Rashid Latif.

In the IPL Auction 2023, the Hyderabad franchise bagged services of Mayank for INR 50.00 lakh. Initially, Markande made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2018–and picked 15 wickets in 14 matches. Then he went to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2020 edition but had not found any success–and wasn’t part of the line-up on a regular basis. After missing early on, he has performed well in the last two fixtures for SRH.

Mayank made his T20I debut for India against Australia on 24 February 2019, however, he remained wicketless.

Whereas, the T20I captain of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan in the latest ICC T20I Players rankings become the new No.1 ranked bowler after he led his team to a historic 2-1 series win over Pakistan in Sharjah. The star leg spinner has picked 121 wickets in 96 IPL matches, the 25-year-old made his debut in a cash-rich league in 2018 for the SRH side and now he represents Gujarat Titans (GT).

Now, Aiden Markram-led SRH for their next clash will take on Mumbai Indians (MI), at Hyderabad on April 18.
