Hardik Pandya Creates History, Breaks Yuvraj Singh’s Record As He Stars In First T20I Against England

India allrounder Hardik Pandya starred with both bat and ball to help the Men in Blue thrash England in the first T20I on Thursday.

Hardik Pandya, on Thursday, proved his worth again as he played a key role in India’s dominating 50-run win over England in the first T20I. Pandya first made his mark with the bat, scoring a quickfire fifty to help Team India post a competitive total.

He scored 51 runs off just 33 balls as the visitors scored 198 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. He came out to bat when India were on 89 for 3 in the 9th over. With momentum on India’s side, Pandya ensured that the team remained on course for a big total.

He lost partners at regular intervals but remained firm from his end to take the team to the big total. At the time of getting out, he had India at 180/6 in 18.4 overs. His impressive knock was studded with 6 fours and one six.

Apart from Pandya, no other Indian batsmen managed to touch or cross the 40-run mark. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda got the starts but failed to capitalise.

After the fireworks with the bat, Pandya shone with the bat. The right-arm pacer picked up 4 wickets to derail England’s chase. In his first over, he took two wickets to put India well on top. The Gujarat star castled Dawid Malan for his first wicket before dismissing the dangerous Liam Livingstone.

In his next over, he sent back Jason Roy to leave England reeling at 33 for 4. Later, he sent back Sam Curran too to finish the game with impressive figures of 4 for 33.

Hardik Pandya creates history:

Thanks to the all round display against England, Hardik Pandya created history. He became the first-ever India player to score a fifty and take four wickets in the same T20I match.

Prior to Pandya, legendary Yuvraj Singh held the record of the best all round display by an Indian in T20Is. Yuvraj had scored a fifty and picked up three wickets against Sri Lanka in 2009/10.
