With Virat Kohli’s form showing very little signs of improvement in recent months, his place in India’s T20I team is not safe anymore. Recent reports have suggested that time is running out for the former India skipper.

Kohli could reportedly face the axe from the T20I team if he fails to do well in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against England. And if he is dropped after the England tour, India are likely to call him back before the T20 World Cup gets underway in Australia this year.

Sanju Samson is one of the candidates to replace Virat Kohli at number three.  Samson has proved that added responsibility enhances his performance. He has done well as a batsman in IPL even after the added burden of captaincy.

In the last couple of seasons of IPL, he led Rajasthan Royals and scored more than 400 runs in both the seasons. In 2021, he scored 484 runs with the help of 1 century and 2 fifties while in 2022, he scored 458 runs.

Samson has the ability to play the big shots at any stage of the game and loves to deliver when he is under pressure. He could be a good replacement for Kohli if given a chance at number three.
