[ad_1]

Delhi Capitals will look to continue their winning juggernaut in the Women’s Premier League as they face Mumbai Indians in their third game on Thursday. The two invincibles will be up against each other on March 9 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Delhi has put up clinical performances in the first two matches defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz comprehensively.

However, they will be up against Mumbai who’re also coming into this game after blowing away their previous two oppositions Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, respectively. To beat the table toppers of the competition so far, Delhi will once again have to field a strong XI who can give a tough fight to the star-studded lineup of Mumbai.

Here is Delhi Capitals predicted XI for the match against Mumbai Indians:

Openers: Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning(c)

Shafali Verma got her tournament off to an incredible start with a marvellous knock of 84 off 45 balls. However, she couldn’t get going in the second game and departed after scoring just 17 off 14. The 19-year-old will look to make amends against Mumbai and play another breathtaking innings.

Meg Lanning has stamped her authority on the WPL by scoring brilliant 70s in the first two matches of the competition. She’s the highest run scorer of WPL so far with 142 runs to her name. The Delhi captain will look to continue her brilliant form and take down Mumbai bowlers with her scintillating shots.

Middle Order:  Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Taniya Bhatia(wk)

Jemimah Rodrigues is having a great run in the tournament so far as she has carried her form from the Women’s T20 World Cup. She played useful knocks of 22 off 15 balls and 34 off 22 balls in the first two matches and will look to play a similar role in the upcoming game.

Capsey also made vital contributions to the team’s total in the second game scoring a quick-fire 21 off 10 balls and also bowled an economical spell of 0/25 in four overs. Having someone like her who can play good cameos and roll her arm over, is a blessing for any side.

Taniya Bhatia hasn’t got a chance to bat yet in the competition but being an experienced campaigner in the format, she has done fairly well so far behind the stumps.

All-rounders: Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey

After scoring a splendid knock of 39 runs off 17 balls in the first game, Kapp was looking in good touch against UP Warriorz as well but her innings was cut short by Sophie Ecclestone when she was on 16 off 12 balls. She also picked up 1/29 in four overs doing justice to her role as an all-rounder.

Shikha Pandey once again didn’t get a chance to bat in the second game but ended up bowling a brilliant spell of 1/18 in four overs. Pandey can rise to the occasion and is fully capable of changing games with both bat and ball.

Bowlers: Jess Jonassen, Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav, Tara Norris

In the last game, Jess Jonassen put up one of the best all-round performances in the tournament so far and played a pivotal role in Delhi’s victory. She will look to replicate her sensational performance against Mumbai as well.

Arundhati Reddy hasn’t impressed in the competition so far as she has bowled just one over where she gave away 14 runs.

Radha Yadav also hasn’t been able to contain the batters as she has given away 35 runs in three overs that she has bowled.

After scripting history in the first game by becoming the first bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in the WPL, Tara Norris gave away 25 runs in two overs in the second game. She will also look to prove her mettle against Mumbai, giving Delhi a chance of counting on the advantage of fielding five foreigners.

Predicted Playing XI: Meg Lanning (c), Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Jess Jonassen, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Arundhati Reddy, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Tara Norris
