Controversies have become an integral part of the India-Australia rivalry in cricket and it looks set to take the centre stage once again as both the teams renewed their Test rivalry on Thursday (February 9) in Nagpur. And the man who can find himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons could be Ravindra Jadeja.
The left-arm spinner made a sensational return to international cricket. Playing his first international game since suffering the knee injury in August last year, Ravindra Jadeja blew Australia away with a five-wicket haul on the opening day of the Border-Gavaskar Test Series.
He first dismissed Marnus Labuschagne to break the dangerous 82-run stand between him and Steve Smith before dismissing Matt Renshaw for a duck on the very next ball. Few overs later, he accounted for Smith too to leave the visitors reeling at 109 for 5 from 84 for 2.
Later in the innings, he accounted for Peter Handscomb and Todd Murphy to complete yet another 5-wicket haul in Tests. Thanks to his fine display, India bowled out Australia for just 177 to put themselves in the driver’s seat.
Camera catches Ravindra Jadeja in controversial incident:
While Ravindra Jadeja is receiving praise from all over for his display with the ball, he might get criticism soon after the camera caught him in a position that is raising a lot of questions. Former Australia captain Tim Paine has already given his reaction to the incident after one Twitter user posted a clip of the incident and asked him about it.
The incident took place before Ravindra Jadeja came in to bowl his 16th over. Before starting the over, he was seen taking something off the hand of Mohammed Siraj. He then rubbed his hands and finger near and around the ball although it was not clear what exactly was going on.
When an user posted the clip and asked Paine about it, he replied: “Interesting.”
