The T20 World Cup 2024 is looming on the horizon. With the marquee tournament all set to be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, there could be many sides that could clinch the title and become world champions.
One of the biggest favourites going into the clash would be team India. Reaching the summit clash of the ODI World Cup 2023, team India fell just short as they lost to Pat Cummins-led Australia in the final.
However, with the T20 World Cup approaching, many have been discussing what squad India could field in the tournament. Many came forward to question the inclusion of veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and despite many ongoing discussions, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh came forward to show support for both batters and backed them to compete in the tournament.
“I think both Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) should be there in the World Cup…I think a good combination would be possible only when you have good senior players too with the youth. Virat and Rohit have a lot of mettle in them…I think they should play,” Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying by HT.
India lost the World Cup final because they did not play well: Harbhajan Singh
Furthermore, Harbhajan Singh also talked of the summit clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 which India lost against Australia. The former spinner opined that India lost the final because they did not play well and that the side succumbed to pressure after the loss of the third wicket.
“India lost the World Cup final because they did not play well. Australia played better and played boldly. We succumbed to the pressure after losing the third wicket. We could have scored 280-290 runs. A lot of blame is being placed on pitch, dew and conditions, but we must accept that we did not play well under pressure,” he said.
