“A freakish injury had happened unfortunately and I’m extremely happy that I’m back on the field, playing the game I love the most. Scoring runs, not scoring runs, picking up wickets, these are all secondary things,” he said.

Venkatesh Iyer discusses his role in the KKR setup
Venkatesh Iyer recently discussed his role in the Kolkata Knight Riders playing XI.
Despite scoring the 2nd ever century for KKR, 15 years after Brendon McCullum’s iconic 158 in the first-ever IPL match in 2008, Iyer still ended up on the losing side against Mumbai Indians.
In the post-match press conference, the Madhya Pradesh cricketer talked about his role in the team.
“See, my role is simple. It doesn’t matter which over I am batting in. Whether it be the 16th over or in the 6th over, it’s very straight and simple. Stand there and hit quick runs and not take a big headache on the overall proceedings,” he said.
