Former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to call for the imprisonment of Special Counsel Jack Smith, his prosecutors, and Attorney General Merrick Garland. In a fiery statement, Trump accused them of weaponizing the Department of Justice and referred to them as “Thug Prosecutors.” He further cited cases involving Democratic politicians who were not prosecuted and questioned why they faced no legal consequences while he was under investigation.

Trump specifically referenced the “Crooked Joe Biden Boxes Case,” alluding to allegations of impropriety against President Biden. He also brought up the issue of Hillary Clinton deleting thousands of emails, including classified ones, after receiving a subpoena from Congress. Additionally, Trump questioned why former President Bill Clinton faced no charges when he took tapes out of the White House in his socks.

The former president’s call for imprisonment comes after reports emerged about his lawyers being told to expect another indictment related to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot and Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. However, Trump had previously denied these reports, stating that he did nothing wrong and that an indictment would only harm the country.

Despite Trump’s denial, a new indictment has been filed against him, alleging that he instructed employees to destroy evidence and obstruct the investigation into his actions. Additionally, authorities obtained a classified document that Trump retained after leaving the White House, which he reportedly showed to others to boast about his performance in office.

In response to the new charges, Trump’s 2024 campaign released a statement accusing the Biden administration and the Department of Justice of engaging in a desperate attempt to harass the former president and his associates. They labeled the investigation an “illegal witch hunt” and insinuated that Special Counsel Jack Smith had no case against Trump.

“They ought to throw Deranged Jack Smith and his Thug Prosecutors in jail, with Meritless Garland and Trump Hating Lisa Monaco. They have totally Weaponized the Department of Injustice,” declared Trump on Truth Social before citing cases in which Democratic politicians were not prosecuted.

“Whatever happened to the Crooked Joe Biden Boxes Case? Why was Hillary Clinton allowed to delete 33,000 emails, many of them Classified, AFTER getting a Subpoena from Congress? Why was Bill Clinton allowed to take tapes out of the W.H. in his socks? Why has no other President ever been charged? ELECTION FRAUD!” continued Trump.
