Three first time women’s champions for WWE in 2023

Women’s wrestling is a draw and the WWE is building a crop of new talents that are poised to rise to the top in 2023.

As we settle into the new year and prepare for WrestleMania 39, it is never too early to start thinking about what comes next for several superstars. It is the time when we can start taking a peek at WWE’s roster to see who we think might become a first-time WWE Women’s Champion in 2023. While there are a lot of talented ladies on the roster, we wanted to give you three people that we could see winning their first singles title in the WWE.

Piper Niven

First and foremost, thank goodness that they went back to using her original name.

During her time in NXT UK Piper Niven was frequently placed in spotlight matches that saw her challenging for the women’s championship, partaking in three separate title matches vs Kay Lee Ray where she was defeated all three times. Following her stint in NXT UK, she would move to the RAW roster where she would begin working alongside Eva Marie and go by the moniker “Doudrop”.
Once again, she would be inserted into the title picture but fall short of her goal of taking home the RAW Women’s Championship.

Fortunately, following a brief hiatus, she would make her triumphant return as a surprise entrant in the 2023 Royal Rumble lasting nearly 30 minutes. She has the in-ring skillset to work with anyone on the roster and could easily have a run as a dominant heel champion.

Indi Hartwell

Standing at an impressive 5’10″, Indi Hartwell is one of the few female wrestlers that can stand eye to eye with the likes of Charlotte Flair. During her time in NXT Indi has proven that she can work as a heel or a face and pull off a believable character.

Since signing with the WWE in November of 2019 Indi has yet hold singles gold, but she ticks every box needed to be a star on the main roster. Not only can she hold her own in the ring, but she also has the ability to win over the crowd with her character work.

With the likes of Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley seemingly pegged as the future of the women’s division they will need opponents that can match their physicality and Indi is the perfect person to do so. She would have an easy transition to the main roster as she could immediately feud with her former teammate Candice LeRae, who alongside current US Champion Austin Theory and Johnny Gargano formed the faction known as “The Way”.

Tiffany Stratton

If I want a betting man, I would place a nice-sized wager on Tiffany Stratton being a singles champion sooner rather than later. The former US National Team gymnast has taken to the world of professional wrestling like a duck to water.

Following along during her time in NXT you can already see the growth that she’s made both in the ring and on the mic. Her moonsault can be put up against the best in wrestling, and I’m not convinced that she doesn’t have the most impressive one that I’ve ever seen. Her athleticism is, obviously, off the charts and the more she learns the ins and outs of working a WWE style she could easily end up being the main star on RAW or Smackdown by the end of 2023.
