Seth Rollins Admits It Pains Him To Say Bad Things About CM Punk
[ad_1]
A couple of weeks after calling him a cancer, Rollins wanted to clarify some stuff.
Seth Rollins managed to make major headlines over Royal Rumble weekend before the event had even begun. While doing press in the hours leading up to the Rumble, someone made the mistake of asking The Architect what he thinks about CM Punk. Rollins did not hold back, telling Punk he’s a cancer and to stay away from WWE.
Seth Rollins Has More To Say
Rollins said Punk proved himself to be that before he left WWE, and has reaffirmed that via his recent run in AEW. Appearing on Covino & Rich this week, the hosts couldn’t resist diving a little deeper into the Punk topic with Rollins. Although he didn’t backtrack on what he said – if anything he doubled down to begin with – Rollins did have a few positive things to say about the AEW Champion.
“I don’t need to repeat what I said about Chicago Phil in an interview last week. If you need to, I’m sure you can Google it,” Rollins said when asked about Punk (H/T to PWMania for the transcription). “I will say one thing about Punk, I’ll end it on a positive note with him. That guy has given my career so much that it pains me to have to say bad things about him because he helped me out. He really did.”
Helping Rollins And Forming The Shield
Punk was obviously integral to the formation of The Shield, potentially on-screen and off-screen. It was suggested the group had been hired by Punk to make sure he didn’t lose the WWE Title when they debuted with Punk being threatened with serious punishments by Vince McMahon if they kept showing up. He reportedly also had a hand in deciding who would be in the group, suggesting Chris Hero in the role Roman Reigns would end up occupying.
Rollins and Punk have clashed in the ring more than fans might realize too. Mostly in six-person tag matches, but also one singles match on Raw in which Punk defeated Rollins. There’s always a chance a wrestler keeps mentioning another in interviews because something is potentially going to happen between the two, but in this instance, that seems very unlikely.
