Rishabh Pant was the star of the day as Team India ended day one of the ongoing Test against England at Edgbaston in driver’s seat.

Rishabh Pant, on Friday, scored yet another overseas century in Tests to put India well on top against England in Birmingham. Having lost the toss and asked to bat first, India were in a spot of bother at 98/5 when Pant and Ravindra Jadeja came together. From thereon, it was a one-way traffic as the two sent the English bowlers on a leather hunt.

The duo shared a 222-run stand for the sixth wicket to take India’s score past the 300-run mark. Joe Root broke the stand towards the end of the day when he had Pant caught at slip.

Before departing, Pant slammed 146 off just 111 balls and had reached his century off just 89 balls. His stunning knock was studded with 20 fours and 4 sixes. At the end of the day, India were 338 at the loss of 7 wickets. Jadeja was unbeaten on 83 while Mohammed Shami was giving him company.

Rishabh Pant’s favourite Test century:

The latest century was Rishabh Pant’s fourth away from home. No other Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has managed to score these many overseas centuries in Tests. It was also his second century against England in England. His other two overseas century came against Australia and South Africa.

And while Pant has already scored some memorable centuries in his short Test career so far, it looks like he does not have any favourite ton so far. At the end of day’s play when a journalist asked him whether his century at Edgbaston was his best so far, Pant came up with a brilliant answer.

“As a player, I feel every hundred you make in international circuit is a big achievement and you feel happy about it. But at the same time, it’s up to you guys to decide which one was better because as a player I want to give my 100 percent and keep enjoying my cricket, ” said Pant.
