Toss West Indies chose to bowl vs India

West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl in the second ODI against India at Bridgetown on Saturday. They made two changes to the side that lost the opener by five wickets, with Alzarri Joseph and Keacy Carty coming in for Rovman Powell and Dominic Drakes.

India, meanwhile, opted to rest Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, with Hardik Pandya leading the team for the second outing. Rohit batted only at No. 7 in the first ODI while Kohli was not even needed as India chased just down the 115-target in 22.5 overs.

Hardik, whose only previous experience of leading India in an ODI came earlier this March against Australia, said he would have preferred to bat. India included Axar Patel and Sanju Samson in the side in the only two changes from the first ODI.

Samson last played an ODI in November 2022, and has, of late, struggled to make it to the playing XI. Axar has more recent ODI game time under his belt having last played against Australia in March.

The second game is a must-win for West Indies, who have lost their last five home ODI series and trail three-match series 1-0.
