Saim Ayub, a promising talent from Pakistan, is prepared to face the upcoming challenge against New Zealand, marking his second international T20 series.

Saim was selected to join Pakistan’s team for the Afghanistan T20I series in March, and has been included in the squad for the home series against New Zealand.

During the upcoming five-match T20I series, the left-hander may have to move down the batting lineup, as the team’s regular openers, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, are making a comeback after resting in Afghanistan series.

“I am ready to play any role for Pakistan team. The thing is to keep myself mentally prepared for any role,” Saim said.

The 20-year-old expressed his enjoyment of playing alongside Babar as an opener during the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), while discussing his experience.

“I got the opportunity to learn from Babar Azam while playing for Peshawar Zalmi. He always gives confidence to youngsters, so I really enjoyed playing alongside him,” he said.

“We will enter the field with the determination to win every match of the T20 series against New Zealand,” he added.

The Karachi-born batsman is focused on performing for Pakistan in every format and making a name for himself.

“I don’t think much about the future, I focus on keeping myself ready for all three formats of the game,” he said.

“I have watched videos of successful left-handers, including Saeed Anwar, and I want to earn a name like them and have people use me as an example,” he added.
