Chennai Super Kings might have suffered a huge injury blow in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Their star allrounder Ravindra Jadeja is reportedly set to be ruled out of the remainder of the tournament. CSK are currently languishing at the ninth spot in the points table. The four-time winners have managed to win just 4 of their first 11 games. CSK are unlikely to make it to the playoffs this year but they are still alive in the competition.

And at such a stage, losing a player like a Ravindra Jadeja would be a massive blow. Jadeja suffered an injury in the upper body while fielding during his team’s loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Due to the injury, he was ruled out of CSK’s following match against Delhi Capitals. According to The Times of India, the CSK camp assessed his injury for the last couple of days but it hasn’t exactly got better. Consequently, he is all set to be ruled out of IPL 2022.

The ongoing IPL has been a rollercoaster ride for the star allrounder. Just two days before the start of the competition, MS Dhoni surprisingly handed the captaincy to him. The move, however, failed to produce the desired results and after a poor run as captain, Jadeja handed back the captaincy to Dhoni. The captaincy has taken a toll on his bowling and batting too. In 10 games so far, he has managed to score just 116 runs at a modest strike-rate of 118. His highest score with the bat this season is only 26. With the ball, he has picked up 5 wickets in 10 outings.

South Africa series in sight:

Ravindra Jadeja would be looking to recover soon in order to make himself available for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa. India will host South Africa for five T20Is next month after the completion of the IPL. With the T20 World Cup not very far away, the series will be an important one for all the players. A good outing in that series could pretty much seal a player’s spot in the T20 World Cup team. Jadeja would be desperate to do well in the upcoming series following his poor outing in the IPL.
