Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the board’s inconsistent policy, stating that not only foreign but even good local coaches do not want to work with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Speaking to the media at the National Stadium Karachi, Misbah-ul-Haq said that conditions in America and the West Indies would be favorable for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, but Pakistan needs to create a cohesive team combination.
Referring to suggestions regarding the national team for the World Cup, he said that Pakistan has good fast bowlers and better batters available, but attention is needed in the spin department. He suggested that players should not be given NOCs for leagues before the World Cup.
Moreover Misbah said that Test cricket has its own place, and due to Test performance, West Indies’ Shamar Joseph has become everyone’s hero.
The former captain said that there is no longer a technical committee of the PCB; the committee existed until there was no director, and Pakistan cricket is suffering from an administrative crisis, high-level changes should not lead to further changes, and due to the inconsistency, long-term planning is not possible.
Misbah-ul-Haq also said they send someone home based on the outcome of one series, this is not the right approach, today not only foreign coaches but also top local coaches do not want to work with the PCB.
The former national selector said that we have good chances in the T20 World Cup, our team is good, there needs to be some thought about spin. There has been a slight delay in players receiving money in the PSL, according to contracts, players will soon receive their money.
Misbah-ul-Haq further stated that there is no harm in having more than one captain in every format.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that the condition of two leagues is not correct, if there is no big event, then let them play. League policies should be made based on conditions, players should have the opportunity to participate in leagues during off times.
Lastly he said that players’ focus is more on short formats. In Test cricket, you become a star with the performance of one match.
