Pakistan Cricket Board is considering rescheduling their home series against West Indies in order to ensure a smooth process of the next edition of the Pakistan Super League. The PSL governing committee held a meeting with PCB to discuss the plans for the league.

During the meeting, the next edition of the Pakistan Super League is proposed to be played in February and March of 2024. However, according to reports, the Pakistan cricket board has informed the franchises about the rescheduling of the West Indies series as they’re scheduled to visit Pakistan in February and March for two Test matches and 3 T20I matches.

Earlier, in PSL 2023, speculations were doing the rounds about the high cost imposed on the franchises for ground management and electricity bills, and the PCB had previously paid PKR50 million to the Punjab government for expenses on food. But the provincial government of Pakistan was demanding PKR450 million more as expenses for lighting and security purposes.

It was said that the PSL team is mulling hosting a few games in the UAE to reduce cost-cutting, which was discussed in the meeting, but it had a difference of opinions between the franchises as most of the sides showed keen interest to play the games in Pakistan.

During the meeting, PCB chairman Najam Sethi also spoke about the idea to add two more teams in the next edition and said that they will provide a financial model that will not cause any loss to the existing franchises the chairman also revealed that they are a lot of teams interested in having Women’s team to their side.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Najam Sethi revealed that due to enormous demand, the number of clubs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be extended to ten.

“There is immense pressure to increase the number of teams in PSL, but unfortunately, Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja agreed with the franchises that only six teams will play in the next two years. However, it was an eight-team project,” Najam Sethi said.

Najam Sethi further continued that they were in high demand for the team and reckoned that if they are ten teams introduced they would be easily picked as they had an overwhelming interest to own the franchise in the league and claimed that PSL 2023 was a huge success comparing it to the digital rating of the Cash-rich Indian Premier League.
