It really was different. The ongoing story of who is running WWE has continued for the last several months, as Vince McMahon retired in July 2022, only to come back about six months later. While Triple H is still reportedly in charge of WWE creative, there is the question of how much influence McMahon has. We have some new data that suggests which style had more fan interest and it is fairly one sided.

Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston has looked at WWE’s performance in some key areas over two eight month periods one year apart, with McMahon and Triple H in charge. According to Thurston, Triple H’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown’s audiences were 6% and 4% higher respectfully. Over the same period, Triple H’s live events for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown drew 25% (8,463 to 6,787) and 14% (8,555 to 7,532) tickets sold. The period covered the eight months Triple H ran WWE creative (July 2022 – March 2023) compared to July 2021 – March 2022) under McMahon.
