NXT North American title vacated, ladder match at Halloween Havoc

The NXT North American title was vacated on NXT last night by Shawn Michaels on the basis that Solo Sikoa was not an original choice in last week’s fan voting so technically he was not supposed to wrestle Carmelo Hayes.

Hayes and Sikoa appeared in a backstage segment with HBK where they were informed about the situation. Hayes requested the title back but Michaels declined, saying he has to win it back at Halloween Havoc.

A five-man ladder match will determine the new champion at Halloween Havoc and Hayes automatically qualifies for it. Eight other individuals will participate in qualifying matches to see who will advance to the match.

Sikoa is now part of the main roster on Smackdown and is not expected to be part of NXT moving forward, which made it difficult to carry an NXT title.

“I made the NA title more valuable in a WEEK then any title reign in @WWENXT,” Sikoa wrote on Twitter. “Brought it to Smackdown with me and defended it. Keep in mind i never lost it. There is always more gold out there and i got my eyes set on it already.”

In a sarcastic tweet replying to Sikoa, Hayes responded with, “Thank you for your service.”
