BBL (Big Bash League) is the 2nd most popular franchise T20 league in the World after IPL. Cricket Australia began the Big Bash League in 2011. Afterward, 11 seasons of the exotic BBL have been completed and the 12th season is underway. In the Big Bash League, wickets are challenging and it’s not easy to bat at all due to the bouncy pitches in Australia. Although sometimes they prepare flat wickets too for the sake of a good game. Chris Lynn
Swashbuckling Australian Opener Chris Lynn has scored the most runs in BBL history. From 2011 to 2023, Lynn played 11 years for Brisbane Heats, and this season he is playing for Adelaide Strikers. The right-hand batsman from Queensland has played 120 matches so far and made 3725 runs at an impressive average of 36.51 and a wow strike rate of 149.05. Lynn also holds the record of getting the most fifties in tournament history (30).
Aaron Finch
The 2021 T20 World Cup-winning skipper, Aaron Finch gets 2nd place on the list of BBL with the highest run scorer with 3311 runs in 107 matches. Since the inaugural season of BBL, Finch has been playing for Melbourne Renegades in BBL. The ace batter averaged 34.48, having 26 fifties and 2 centuries in his name. In 2018-19, Aaron Finch led Melbourne Renegades to their maiden BBL title.
Jonathan Wells
Tasmanian middle-order batsman, Jonathan Wells finds himself in 3rd position in terms of notching up the most runs in BBL. Having played 135 matches, Wells has amassed 2954 runs at a decent average of 33.56. Wells played 6 seasons for Hobart Hurricanes (2011-2017), then he moved to Adelaide Strikers for the next 5 years (2017-2022) where he won the BBL trophy for the first time in the 2017-18 season. Currently, the decent batter has been giving his services to Melbourne Renegades since 2022.
D’Arcy Short
Flamboyant left-hand batter, D’Arcy Short is featured in the 4th spot in getting the most runs in BBL. Short has represented Adelaide Strikers, Hobart Hurricanes, and Melbourne Renegades in 93 matches to date and accumulated 2950 runs at a staggering average of 35.11. The Southpaw’s best score in BBL is 122* off 69 balls which he made against Brisbane Heats.
Glenn Maxwell
One of the most popular names in T20 cricket, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has whacked 2916 runs in 109 matches, which is the 5th most in the history of BBL. Maxwell has a fantastic strike rate of 152.51 and his 154* off just 64 balls against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2022 BBL season is the highest score by a batsman in BBL.
