Bristol Bears forward James Dun has signed a new “long-term” contract extension with the club.

The 24-year-old joined his hometown club’s academy aged 13 and went on to make his Premiership debut in 2017.

Dun, who can play in the second row and back row, has made 27 appearances for the Bears in total.

He spent last season on loan with Championship side Jersey Reds, where he was part of the team that won the league title.

“The environment here is perfect for my development and progression as a player and I’m learning all the time from the coaches and players around me,” Dun said.

Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam said that “homegrown players” like Dun were a “key pillar” of the club.

“He has brought real physicality, work rate and skill to our team through his standout performances. I’m genuinely excited by how far he can continue to grow as he has a strong personal motivation to make the most of every opportunity in front of him,” Lam said.

“Dunny epitomises what we’re trying to achieve at the Bears with young, hungry players with huge potential.”
