“It’s Hard To See The Variations Of Ravindra Jadeja”- Jos Buttler

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had won the toss & elected to bowl first. RR posted a competitive total of 175-8 as it was a topsy-turvy innings. Jos Buttler smashed yet another half-century & scored 52 runs in 36 balls and struck 3 sixes and 1 four. Jos Buttler dropped the role of aggressor in the middle overs when the team were in a state of trouble.

CSK’s all-rounder Moeen Ali was quite sloppy on the field as he dropped 2 catches & missed a runout. CSK’s decision to include the mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana didn’t work well as he conceded 42 runs in his 4 overs & was taken to the cleaners. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers as he took 2 wickets & gave away 21 runs in his 4-over spell.

RR skipper Sanju Samson would be utterly disappointed after getting out cheaply. Samson now has an unwanted record to his name as he has the most ducks (8) in the history of IPL for RR. The decision to send Ashwin to the No.5 position did keep the team in good stead as he scored 30 runs in 22 balls after the team had been in a precarious position at 88-3 in 8.5 overs.

CSK would back themselves to chase this target as the pitch doesn’t have significant demons in it and at the same time they have got a lot of match winners present in the side. The power-play would be quite decisive as RR don’t have Trent Boult in the playing 11 due to a niggle.

RR have named Adam Zampa as their impact player. It would be interesting to see skipper Sanju Samson uses Zampa along with Chahal & Ashwin. The trio would be quite lethal against the left-handed batters Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Devon Conway & Shivam Dube.

It’s a decent score we have got- Jos Buttler

After the end of RR’s innings, Jos Buttler was having an interaction with the commentary panel. Jos Buttler stated that the wicket is quite unpredictable. Jos Buttler praised Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling & was quite optimistic that the team can defend the target and was banking on Chahal, Ashwin & Zampa.

“It started off as a really good wicket in the powerplay but it slowed down. Jadeja then bowled really well. It’s a decent score we have got but it will come down to the dew and how the wicket plays in the second half. In the powerplay, you are always trying to take advantage. But because we lost a few wickets, I had to extend a partnership and take it deeper. It is disappointing to get out in the death,” said Jos Buttler.

“But we got a good score. (On Jadeja) He bowls fast and gets it to turn. It’s hard to see the variations – one spinning and one skidding. But we have Ashwin, Chahal and Zampa. We had a really good success with our spinners and traditionally it is a pretty good venue for spin,” he added.
