Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Mahipal Lomror revealed that his role in the team is to take on the spinners in the middle overs. The left-handed batter impressed everyone with his hard-hitting skills to score his first half-century in the Indian Premier League against Delhi Capitals.

The 23-year-old played an aggressive knock to score 54 runs off just 29 balls to help his side reach a competitive total of 181-4 at the end of 20 overs. He has been the bright spot for the Faf du Plessis-led side against the Delhi Capitals.

Speaking to the media, after their loss against Delhi Capitals, Mahipal Lomror said that his role in the team is to take on the spinners and feels that it is difficult to score big runs in his role as he plays high-risk games for his side and added that it is important to make an impact for his side.

“My role was to play spinners and Virat’s role was to play the pacers,” Lomror stated.

“Difficult to get big scores in my role. My work is to go and disrupt the bowlers and it is difficult to score big in such a high-risk approach. My work is to play impactful innings. Personally, it feels great to get a landmark, and if I am honest, I have wanted it for a while,”  Mahipal Lomror added.

Mahipal Lomror has so far scored 132 runs in eight matches in IPL 2023 at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 148.31 and An effortless spin-hitter who bowls left-arm spin and bats left-handed and is considered an invaluable T20 player and will look to contribute to his team success in forthcoming games.

I Got Help From The Delhi Wickets – Mahipal Lomror

Mahipal Lomror said that he usually likes the slow wickets as he can play more balls on the back foot which is regarded as his strength in batting and believes the Delhi Wicket has helped his style of batting as he had a lot of time to hit the ball hard.

“I like slow wickets in general because you get a lot of balls to play off your back foot. And that is one of my strengths. I got help from the Delhi wickets because it was quite slow and I had a lot of time to hit the ball,” Mahipal Lomror further added.

The 23-year-old feels that the points table is very tight this year and wants his team to secure some important wins in the next few games and qualify for the playoffs as soon as possible.

“The points table is quite tight this year and we would love to reach the playoffs place as soon as we can,” Lomror concluded.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has suffered their 5th loss in the league stage and will look to make a comeback at the business end of the tournament to make it into the playoffs for the fourth consecutive time in the IPL.
