Pretoria Capitals continued their good start in the SA20 2023 with a 37-run win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the sixth match on Saturday (January 14). The Capitals scored 216/6 in Centurion courtesy of English batter Will Jacks, who smashed 92 off 46, and Theunis de Bruyn, who scored 42 off 23. South African pacer Sisanda Magala proved the best bowler for the Sunrisers, with two for 28, however, he did not get much support from his teammates.

White chasing the big target, the Sunrisers lost opener Sarel Erwee and wicketkeeper batter Jordan Cox on back-to-back deliveries in the second over as Wayne Parnell gave his team a perfect start with the ball. Captain Aiden Markram top-scored with 46 off 29 and pacer Marco Jansen put in a brave effort with an unbeaten 36 off 20, but the Sunrisers managed to score just 178/7 in 20 overs.

The Capitals’ captain Parnell took two wickets while conceding just 20 runs while English spinner Adil Rashid grabbed 2/46 to help the Capitals for a convincing win. Parnell was bowled out on a golden duck by Ottniel Baartman but shone with a ball against the Sunrisers.

Will Jacks shines on a big stage:

While Parnell contributed with the ball, it was Jacks who grabbed the Player of the Match award for his brilliant knock. He took only 28 balls to reach the 50-run mark and went on to score 92 off 46 in the end.

After making the headline on England’s recent tour to Pakistan, the young English batting all-rounder continues his red-hot form in T20 cricket. He scored only six runs in the opening clash against the Sunrisers but showcased his worth against the same opposition this time around. With Phil Salt as the opening partner, Jacks forms a formidable opening partnership for the Capitals in SA20 2023.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Will Jack’s knock during PRE vs EAC game:
