India To Play Three T20I Against Ireland In August 2023; Bangladesh To Play Three ODIs As Irish Bid To Qualify for 2023 World Cup

The Indian team will be visiting Ireland for three T20O matches in August, Cricket Ireland announced on March 17, 2023.
Ireland was unfortunate not to secure at least one memorable victory during the thrilling two-match T20I series that India and Ireland played in 2022. While India won the series 2-0, both games were thrilling and high-scoring contests.
The world’s best T20I team returning for a second straight year is a testament to the skill and toughness of the current Irish team and a suitable way to cap off the summer’s domestic international matches.

All three T20Is will be played between August 18-23 and will be played in Malahide.
Ireland To Host Bangladesh For Three-ODI Matches Of The World Cup Super League
Apart from hosting India, Ireland will also welcome Bangladesh for a three-match World Cup Super League ODI matches in a bid to maximize their chances of automatic qualification for the 50-over World Cup later this year to be played in India.
If other results go Ireland’s way, a 3-0 series win over Bangladesh could be sufficient for them to clinch the eighth spot in the Super League and therefore make the cut for the World Cup in India in October without having to play the qualifier in Zimbabwe in June-July.
Cricket Ireland has argued that early-season England offers a higher chance of favorable weather than Dublin or Belfast, where they are dependent on temporary infrastructure that may further jeopardize their prospects of finishing three games.

Ireland has contracted Chelmsford to host the three games on May 9, 12, and 14.
“We need to play and win the three games to qualify. After in-depth consideration, it was decided that this approach gave us the best chance of securing automatic qualification, particularly given the fact that the matches have to be played before the World Cup Super League cut-off in mid-May,” Warren Deutrom, Cricket Ireland’s chief executive, said to ESPNCricinfo.
“We need a venue where the weather patterns and playing facilities give us the best chance of mitigating any rain impact. Unfortunately, it is likely too early in the Irish season to prepare pitches to ODI standard unless we have a remarkably dry April. This only underscores our determination to accelerate the development of our permanent venue infrastructure, an objective which remains among my most pressing,” he added.
The Ireland Men’s busy six-month playing season, which began this month with the journey to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, is now complete with these recently confirmed matches. Between March and September, Ireland’s Men could play more than 30 games overall.
