India All Rounder Ravindra Jadeja Fined For ICC Code Of Conduct Breach

Coming back from the injury, Star Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja was on fire against Australia in the first Test of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jadeja has impressed with his performance with both bat and ball.

According to ICC cricket.com, Ravindra Jadeja has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC code of conduct during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur. Ravindra Jadeja was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC code of conduct.

The incident occurred during the 46th over of Australia’s first innings on Thursday, 9 February, when Jadeja was seen applying a soothing cream to his index finger. In the video footage, the left-arm spinner took a substance from Mohammed Siraj’s palm and appeared to rub this onto the index finger of his left hand.

Jadeja admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Nitin Menon and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan leveled the charge.

Australian Former Captain Steve Waugh commented on Ravindra Jadeja’s growing confidence in his batting ability and Improved as a proper Test batter. Waugh said the Indian all-rounder has started to see himself more as a proper batter than a lower-order hitter in the longest format of the game

“Jadeja is such a good player. His batting has improved. He has improved technically and mentally as a batter. I think he sees himself as a proper batter, rather than as a lower-order hitter.
