Earlier during the 1st ODI, Ace Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja surpassed former Indian skipper Kapil Dev to become India’s highest wicket-taker against West Indies in ODI Cricket. Jadeja now has 44 wickets against the Men in Maroon in One-day Internationals and would look to add more wickets to his name in the coming years.
Coming into the 2nd game of the three-match series, India opted to rest their senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they gave a chance to fringe Indian players, who are looking to seal their place in the ODI World Cup squad. The move proved to be costly for the Men in Blue as the middle-order batters failed to step in for the team in a rain-interpreted game.
After a drubbing in the first game, the hosts managed to claw back and keep their hopes of a series win alive. The West Indies team played with a lot of determination in the 2nd game, as their bowlers came up with a proper against the inexperienced Indian batters. The Windies bowlers kept consistently bowling in proper line and length to rattle the batters with their bowling, to bowl out the Indian team for 181 runs.
India and West Indies will go to Trinidad and Tobago to play the final game of the series after playing the first two in Barbados followed by which Hardik Pandya-led side will engage in the 5-match T20 series in which the Men in Blue is set to give the opportunity to the new players in build-up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.
