Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be back in the Indian colours in the Ireland series starting in August to get fully fit for the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 later this year in India. The Men in Blue will be playing the T20 series against Ireland starting on the 18th of August.
Jasprit Bumrah has gradually increased his workload at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), as he has been bowling 8-10 overs under the watchful eyes of NCA head VVS Laxman as per reports. Bumrah had undergone surgery for a recurring back niggle in New Zealand in March and since then he has been on the recovery path.
According to sources in NCA, Bumrah is making good progress and may very well be at his peak fitness when he returns to the blues and he is most likely to make a return to the Indian team very soon. The decision to include them in the Ireland tour will be based on his body fitness in the upcoming days.
“While the selectors and the team management were looking to include Bumrah for the Asia Cup in September, the progression he has made in the last couple of weeks means he could travel to Ireland next month with a second-string India team. It is understood that a decision on this would be taken in the coming days,” an Indian Express report stated.
It is reported that Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be back in the Indian colours in the T20 series against Ireland starting in August to get fully fit for the big events. The Right arm pacer has been India’s best bowler across all three formats since his debut for the Men in Blue in International Cricket, he is expected to be a vital player for the Indian team.
Another World Cup hope Shreyas Iyer has also started training in Bangalore ahead of the all-important Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. The right-hander from Mumbai had trouble with his back since the start of this year and had missed quite a few series and the IPL 2023 due to an injury
The reports also suggest Prasidh Krishna has resumed his training NCA after long standing injury which forced him out of competitive cricket over the last few years and the Karnataka pacer has been one of the standout performers for India in ODI Cricket in recent times. In 14 ODI games, he has claimed 25 wickets at an economy rate of 5.32 and would be a valuable asset for the Indian team in all three formats of the game.
