IND vs SL: Rahul Tripathi Makes T20I Debut for India

Rahul Tripathi, on Thursday (January 5) made his T20I debut at his home ground at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune as Men in Blue lock horns with Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the three-match series.

Earlier, Sanju Samson was ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series due to a knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Wednesday (January 4) named Jitesh Sharma as his replacement.

Rahul Tripathi’s T20 Numbers

The Maharashtra batter has been one of the most consistent performers in the Indian Premier League. He was also rewarded for his stellar show with the bat in the 2022 season of IPL, where he accumulated 413 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad at an average of 37.55 and a strike rate of 158.24.

The 31-year-old received a maiden call-up following his back-to-back sensational IPL seasons. In the 2021 edition of IPL, he amassed 397 runs in 16 innings for Kolkata Knight Riders at an average of 28.35 and a strike rate of 140.28. Overall, in 121 T20 appearances, he has made 2801 runs with 93 being his highest.
