IND vs AUS: “His Aggressive Style Will Bring Back Lost Interest In ODI Cricket”

Former Indian Cricketer Ajay Jadeja believes Hardik Pandya can bring life to ODI cricket with his aggressive brand of captaincy for India. The 29-year-old made his ODI captaincy debut against Australia in the 1st ODI and Pandya has impressed everyone with his proactive captaincy.
Hardik Pandya, who is touted to be India’s skipper in white-ball formats after Rohit Sharma, made an impressive debut in captaincy with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. Hardik Pandya was also leading the young Indian team in the T20 post-2022 World Cup.
Speaking about Hardik Pandya’s captaincy style on Cricbuzz, said that Pandya gives a different vibe as a captain and stated that he used his bowlers very well in the 1st ODI against Australia. Indian bowlers were spectacular in their bowling dismissing Australia under 190 runs.
“Hardik Pandya has a different vibe. He is always aggressive, so when you look at the playing XI, who were the bowlers, Shami, Siraj, be it a good or bad day for him, that’s different. Then he has kept Kuldeep, then he bowls aggressively. Jadeja is a defensive bowler but is not really defensive. His mindset is aggressive so the captaincy doesn’t have a drag in games. Everyone has their own way, some are successful, some are not,” said Ajay Jadeja on Cricbuzz.
Indian Pacers Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj picked up 6 wickets for India which helped India to reduce Australia to 188 runs, On chasing a total of 189 runs, India made a disastrous start following a fiery spell from Mitchell Starc dismissing India’s top order. KL Rahul and the comeback of Ravindra Jadeja stitched an unbeaten stand of 108 runs to take India to victory in the 1st ODI against Australia.
Hardik Pandya’s Style Of Captaincy Won’t Bore You – Ajay Jadeja
Ajay Jadeja feels Hardik Pandya has his style of leading his team. Many former cricketers feel Hardik Pandya will be the right man to lead India in the limited-over formats and also added that Hardik Pandya’s aggressive brand of cricket will bring the lost interest in ODI cricket.
“If you look at Kane Willamson, if he would have been far that day in the runout, then people would have said, why did they take it so close? That’s his style of playing. Similarly, Ms. Dhoni had a style, so this is Hardik Pandya’s style. This is an attacking style, it won’t bore you. It will bring back your interest in ODI cricket,” he added.
The second ODI is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Visakhapatnam. The hosts will be boosted by the return of their skipper Rohit Sharma for the game after he missed the series opener due to family commitments.
