IND vs AUS: Curators Are Preparing A ‘Normal’ Pitch For The Final Test Of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The pitch for the fourth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is expected to be a normal track that has scope for both bat and ball. The pitches have become a hot topic of discussion in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Indian pitch was receiving an average rating from the ICC. ICC deemed the Indore pitch as ‘poor’ where the ball started spinning from Day 1 during the third Test. India and Australia will be playing their final Test match at Ahmedabad.
According to PTI, the Gujarat pitch curators haven’t received any instructions to prepare any kind of surface and they were preparing a normal track they prepared for the Ranji Trophy matches.
“We haven’t received any instructions from the Indian team management and our local curators are preparing a normal track as we have always done through the season,” the report stated.
They further went on to add that BCCI has asked to prepare a good test match pitch in Ahmedabad. The last three matches were finished within three days and the track started to turn from day 1 in the third test it was widely criticised by many crickets experts
“Last Ranji game over here in January, Railways scored 500 plus (508) batting first, and Gujarat, although suffered innings defeat, scored 200 plus in both innings. It won’t be too different this time. Last few days the BCCI’s grounds and pitches committee instruct the local curator. But, certainly, from our end, we endeavour to produce a good Test match pitch.”
The Indore pitch was offering huge turns and uneven bounce right from the start and Australia’s spinners made the most of the conditions.
The ICC rules state that a venue will be suspended from hosting any international cricket for 12 months if it accumulates five or more demerit points over a five-year rolling period. India will look to secure their place in the World Test Championship in England with a win in Ahmedabad.
Mohammad Shami Likely To Return In Playing 11 In The Final Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy
Indian pacer Mohammad Shami is likely to return to India’s playing XI for the fourth and final Test against Australia in Ahmedabad after being rested in the third test. With the World Test Championship (WTC) final spot up for grabs, Shami, who has been the best pacer on view across both teams, will be needed to step up on the Ahmedabad pitch.
Umesh Yadav was very impressive with his bowling in the third test–and it will be interesting to see whether Shami comes in place of Umesh or Siraj. It is still unclear what kind of surface will be offered in Ahmedabad. Notably, the last two tests in Ahmedabad ended in two days.
