ICC Men’s Player Of The Month Nominees For February 2023 Revealed, Ace Indian Spinner, Makes It To The Shortlist

IND VS AUS: Indian spinners have performed impeccably well against the Australia batting lineup in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023. The visitors have not managed to go past 300 run mark in the six innings played in the 2023 India tour.
Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja has together taken 39 wickets in the three test matches of the series. ICC has released three player names as the nominee for the player of the month award in February 2023, England’s star batter Harry Brook makes it to the list, with West Indies left-arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie. Indian ace spinner Ravindra Jadeja features in the list for his performance in Nagpur and Delhi test match.
The three players to be shortlisted for ICC player of the month for Ferburary,2023 are-
- Harry Brook ( England)
The test series in New Zealand got drawn by 1-1, but the world saw the emergence of the new batting sensation Harry Brook’s innings in both the test matches, especially his ton in the second game at Wellington. The 24-year-old smashed a career-best 186 from 176 balls in the second test match, he hit 24 fours and five sixes during his fourth hundred in six test matches of his longer format career.
2. Gudakesh Motie (West Indies)
In, the West Indies tour of Zimbabwe on February 2023., the West Indies won the second Test at Bulawayo to take the two-match series by 1-0. The left arm-spinner, Gudakesh Motie registered the figures of 7-37 and 6-62 in each inning of a second test match, the 27- year old spun the West Indies to a Test – and series. Motie’s spell of 7-37, was the sixth-best figure by a West Indian spinner, in that list, the top three spells are from 1970/71 or before.
The Guyanese cricketer finished the series with 19 wickets, the joint-most by a West Indian in a two-match Test series.

3. Ravindra Jadeja ( India)
India before the last test match at Indore had a lead of 2-0 against Australia in the four-test match series, Jadeja was the player of the match in both games for his all-round performance. The left-arm spinner completed his 250 Test wickets in the Delhi match and also earned a 10-wicket haul as well.
In the first test match at Nagpur, Jadeja scored 70 runs to help Men in Blue to reach the 400 mark in the first innings, while in the second test match, he picked up 7 wickets in the second innings to dismiss the Aussies for 113 runs. The bowling all-rounder didn’t perform as per the expectation in the last test match at Idore, it will be interesting to see, how India will fight for the spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in the fourth test match of BGT at Ahmedabad on March 9.
Rohit Sharma-led side now has to win the series by a 3-1 margin to qualify for the WTC final 2023, while the visitors have already qualified for WTC Final in June after avoiding the clean sweep in the last test match.
