Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli share a great compadre between themselves, they together took Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for two IPL Finals, and in November 2021 the star South African batter retired from all formats of the game.

In a recent interview, Kohli on Devilliers’ YouTube channel called ‘ThreeSixty’, revealed his nervous first meeting with the Bollywood actress and his wife, Anushka Sharma. The star Indian batter has to shoot an advertisement with Anuska in his first meeting.

The former Indian skipper stated that after the first meeting, they became friends-

I remeber this was 2013, I was just named captain for the Zimababwe tour. My manager came to me and told me that I was going to shoot with Anushka Sharma. As soon as I heard this, I was so nervous. Like how the hell am I gonna do this. I was really nervous,” stated Kohli.

Anushka and Virat married in December 2017. They had reportedly first met while shooting for a shampoo ad in 2013. Over the next couple of years, the two kept their relationship secret but were often spotted together in public.

Out of nervousness, I didn’t realise how tall she was. So the first thing I told her when I saw her heels was, ‘Didn’t you get anything higher to wear?’ and she was like ‘Excuse me?’ It was so bad, I was so nervous. But then I figured out that she was a normal person and when we got talking I realized our background was so similar. From there on we became friends and then gradually we started dating, it didn’t happen instantly,” he further added.

While the Indian ace batter’s wife has been the constant support for him in his failure and success, the 34-year-old was struggling with the form especially after 2019, when he went past more than three years without a Test ton, but he accompanied Anushka in the different temple, it is said that the right-handed batter gained mental composure to be back on the field after that, finally, in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, Virat scored his 28 Test 100 in the four test match.

Now, India will take on Australia (IND vs AUS) for the third and final ODI, the series is level on 1-1 and Kohli got out cheaply in both games at Mumbai and Vizag, so Rohit Sharma-led side will be hoping for their star batter to deliver on the big game on March 22 at Chennai.
