Dhanush who received his Best Actor National Award for Asuran last year, gave a huge shout out to this year’s winner Suriya, who won for his performance in Soorarai Pottru. Suriya shared his award with Ajay Devgn for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Dhanush tweeted: “A big congratulations to all the national award winners. Especially Suriya Sir and my good friend GV Prakash. A big day for Tamil cinema. Super proud.” GV Prakash won for Best Music Direction for Soorarai Pottru. The film won multiple awards at this year’s National Film Awards. Aparna Balamurali won Best Actress for the film. Soorarai Pottru also won Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Background Score. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film was based on the life of Simplify Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is super busy with the promotions of Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man, in which he stars alongside Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Rege-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick and Wagner Moura. The film began streaming on Netflix today.
