Right-arm pacer, Haris Rauf, has resumed bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Lahore as Pakistan is set to announce their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled in India.

As a precautionary measure, Rauf opted not to bowl during the recently-concluded Asia Cup’s Super 4 match against India on September 10, prioritizing his long-term fitness and avoiding any aggravation of his condition.

He had reported mild discomfort in his right flank during the match, prompting the medical staff to order a precautionary MRI. Following this setback, medical tests were conducted, revealing no tear and instilling hopes for his swift recovery and potential inclusion in the World Cup squad.

In a related injury concern, Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah also experienced an injury scare during the aforementioned match.

After bowling the second delivery of his final over, he left the field holding his wrist. This injury added to his previous shoulder injury suffered while attempting to save a boundary in the first Super 4 stage match against Bangladesh.

In response to those injury concerns, Pakistan took proactive steps by calling up Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backups for the pace duo. Their inclusion was prompted by the niggles experienced by the Rauf and Naseem during the match against India, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring a strong and well-prepared squad for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
