ECB is facing the heat from the Indian fans on social media after posting a distasteful tweet on Virat Kohli following the conclusion of the rescheduled Test at Edgbaston.

After being on the backfoot for the first three days at Edgbaston, England bounced back in style to win the Test by seven wickets against India. Not many were predicting a win for England after day three of the game ended.

In the first innings, India had thoroughly dominated the hosts to put themselves in the driver’s seat. Asked to bat first, the visitors recovered from 98 for 5 to post a big total of 416 thanks to centuries from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.

In reply, England were all out for just 284 despite a quickfire century from Jonny Bairstow. India then went on to finish day three on 125 for 3 to extend their lead to 257 runs. However, the scenario changed completely on day four as England put up a stunning performance with both bat and ball.

They picked up the remaining Indian wickets for just 120 runs to bowl out the tourists for 245. The Ben Stokes-led side then went on to chase down a record 378 runs with utmost ease. Bairstow and Joe Root scored unbeaten tons to take their team home inside 90 minutes on the final day.

It was England’s highest-ever successful chase in Test while it was the first occasion when India failed to defend a 350-plus total in the longest format of the game. With England winning the Test, the five-match series ended at 2-2.
