In a disappointing turn of events, India fast-bowler Mohammed Shami was heckled by a section of fans with communal chants during the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Cricket took the back seat before the match started as a political rally took the centre stage. Prime Ministers of both the countries – Narendra Modi and Anthony Albanese – attended the start of the game. The prime ministers presented Test caps to both the captains and took a lap of honour of the field.
Amidst all these, Mohammed Shami became a victim of a sad incident. A video that has gone viral on social media shows a small section of fans trying to rile up the India pacer with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chant. The incident took place when the Indians players were waiting near the boundary ropes before the game was to start.

India vs Australia 4th Test:
Talking about the ongoing game, India have made a good start with the bat after Australia posted a massive total in their first innings. Batting first, the visitors scored 480 runs. Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green starred with the bat, scoring 180 and 114 runs respectively.
For India, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers. The ace spinner picked up 6 wickets for 91 runs to help India bowl out Australia. In reply, India have begun well with the bat. At lunch on day 3, the hosts were on 129 for 1. After Rohit Sharma departed for 35, Shubman Gill (65) and Cheteshwar Pujara (22) have steadied the ship for the hosts.
India will be desperate to win the ongoing game in order to book their place in the final of the World Test Championship. Australia have already booked their place for the final which is scheduled to take place in June in England.
