Nottinghamshire on a mission in Division Two
Nottinghamshire have made a strong start to life in Division Two and may well be on course to make a swift return to the top flight.
They were denied top spot as Middlesex salvaged a draw at Lord’s, with Sam Robson’s second successive century and an afternoon downpour thwarting their efforts.
Steven Mullaney’s superb unbeaten 55-ball century in the second innings deserved a much better outcome than a rain affected draw.
However, with a deep batting line-up and strong bowling attack, Nottinghamshire should mount a strong promotion challenge as the season progresses.
England fancied to claim T20 title
The delayed T20 Cricket World Cup in Australia is unquestionably the highlight of the cricket calendar in 2022.
Reigning champions Australia will fancy their chances of retaining the title on home soil, although no team has achieved that feat in the history of the tournament.
India are strongly fancied by many respected pundits, but this could be the year when England get their name on the trophy for the second time.
A disappointing semi-final exit against New Zealand in 2021 should provide the players with enough motivation to set the record straight this year.
