The 20-year-old Delhi Capitals (DC) wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel grabbed an absolutely outstanding catch to dismiss the Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, April 11.

Rohit Sharma, who was struggling to perform in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for an extended period of time, finally performed well. He scored 65 runs off 45 balls, including 6 fours, in the crucial game against Delhi Capitals (DC) to help his side register the first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 by 6 wickets.

Rohit was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman on the 5th ball of the 17th over as the wicketkeeper-batter Porel grabbed a sensational catch. The pacer bowled a full and wide delivery outside off and Rohit Sharma tries to guide it towards the third man, but he just managed to get a thick outside edge.

The ball went straight towards Abishek Porel and the young wicketkeeper-batter dived to his right to take a stunning one-handed catch.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, captain Rohit Sharma said that he wanted to make fuller utilization of the powerplay. He added that he decided to play an aggressive brand of cricket and build a good partnership with the young batting sensation Tilak Varma.

“I needed to make use of the powerplay, I knew we had to keep attacking and take our chances. I tried to create a partnership and had good communication with Tilak. It was important for us to have a good partnership.

“We have young guys who haven’t played IPL before, so it’s important to have faith in them. Give them that confidence, and we are trying to have a healthy atmosphere in the dressing room. Don’t need to make drastic changes, that’s really important,” Rohit said.

Rohit batted aggressively initially as he scored 47 runs off 23 balls at an amazing strike rate of 204.34. However, he slowed down significantly and scored just 18 runs off his last 22 balls at a strike rate of 81.81.
