Google’s list of top 10 trending events of the year 2023 proves that this year was quite eventful for Pakistan but also proves that the nation’s love for cricket can never cease.

The tech giant on Monday released its annual list of top trending events in Pakistan this year and it shows that Pakistanis have a passionate interest in cricket as this topic reigned the chart.

The list mentions various events in Pakistan including religious and political events but the cricket events topped the list.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL), the World Cup 2023, and the Asia Cup 2023 made the top three respectively.

Other events included the Indian Premier League, Ashes, Eid, Pakistan National Elections, and more.

PSL

PSL is a T20 tournament organised by the PCB, and approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It features five teams, from Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad.

Pakistan kicked off the year 2023 with the PCB busy finishing off preparations for the 8th season of the nation’s beloved PSL which was won by Lahore Qalandars.

Now, the country wraps up its cricket-filled year with preparations for the 9th season of PSL underway.

World Cup 2023

The ICC World Cup 2023 proved to be another trending cricket event across Pakistan as well as India and got second place in the list for both countries.

The World Cup is an event that captivates even those locals who have no interest in cricket. This year’s World Cup was full of several unforgettable moments.

However, it may have been a given that this year’s World Cup organised in India would make the top three trending events as it was surrounded by numerous controversies including the fact that Pakistani fans and journalists faced problems with their visas.

Asia Cup 2023

The Asia Cup, another cricket event, was placed at number three on the list. Although Pakistan did not manage to make it to the finals in the Asia Cup, it portrayed some of its best performances during the competition.

The players suffered some health issues in the tournament which proved to be unfavourable to the team.
