CSK vs RR: Chennai Super Kings’ Playing XI For Clash Against Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2023, Match 17: Chennai Super Kings will be looking to extend their winning run in IPL 2023 when they welcome Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday (April 12). It will be the first meeting between the two sides this season and 17th game of IPL 2023.

Chennai Super Kings will enter the game on the back of two consecutive wins. The 4-time IPL champions began their season with a 5-wicket loss to reigning champions Gujarat Titans. However, they bounced back in style by beating Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. With momentum on their side, the MS Dhoni-led side will be keen to make a hat-trick of wins.

So as Chennai Super Kings gear up for the clash, we are taking a look at the possible playing eleven they can field against Rajasthan Royals. The hosts could field two different playing elevens depending on the toss result. In case they bat first, they can name three foreign players before bringing either Maheesh Theekshana or Sisanda Magala while defending.

In case, they are required to bowl first, they are likely to include experienced overseas bowlers in the eleven. Later during the chase, they could bring in Ambati Rayudu or Ajinkya Rahane in place of an Indian bowler.

While Ruturaj Gaikwad has started his campaign in a stunning manner, Devon Conway has blown hot and cold so far. The New Zealand opener was out for just 1 in the opening game before scoring 47 against Lucknow Super Giants. In the following game against Mumbai Indians, he was out for a duck.

Gaikwad, on the other hand, has scored big in all the three games. He began his campaign with a 92-run knock against Gujarat Titans before scoring 57 against LSG. It was followed by an unbeaten knock of 40 against Mumbai Indians.

Middle-order: Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube:

Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube are likely to make the middle-order for Chennai Super Kings. Moeen missed the last game due to illness and is expected to be available for the upcoming clash. Prior to missing that game against Mumbai, he had starred with the ball against LSG, taking 4 wickets.

Rahane, on the other hand, made his debut for CSK against Mumbai and went on to smash the fastest fifty of the season before it was broken by Nicholas Pooran. Rahane reached his fifty off just 19 balls. Rayudu and Dube have also got good starts with the bat so far and are expected to play against Royals.

Wicketkeeper and allrounder: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja:

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja will be forming the lower middle-order for the team against Rajasthan Royals. Jadeja was adjudged the Man of the Match for his performance in the last outing against Mumbai Indians and will be looking to continue his form. Dhoni has also looked really good whenever he has got an opportunity with the bat.

Bowlers: Mitchell Santner, Dwaine Pretorius, Tushar Deshpande:

With both Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar looking set to miss the game against Royals, Tushar Deshpande and Dwaine Pretorius are likely to be a part of the playing eleven. CSK are also expected to bring in either Theekshana or Magala as an impact player.
