BAN 151/4 (31.5 ov, Mahmudullah 41*, Nurul Hasan 20*, Jayden Seales 0/26)

That’s all from today’s game. Do join us for the 2nd ODI on 13th July. Till then take care and good night. Signing off on behalf of Thilak, Raghav and myself, Rashad.

Tamim Iqbal: The wicket was difficult for both the teams. Winning the toss was the best part of the game. As a team, we didn’t get greedy looking at the pitch. [on the runout] It’s not a blame-game here. These things happen. [On Nasum] He has been doing well in T20’s. Good to see him bowl

Nicholas Pooran: In hindsight they [runs] weren’t enough but it was difficult to play on that pitch. Bangladesh played well. The conditions changed from the time we batted. That said, we should’ve played well in the Powerplay overs. Everyone knows how Gudakesh bowls. So, to play in front of his home crowd was nice

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the player of the match: We haven’t been able to practice much in the the last 10 days because of the rains. We have played really well in ODI cricket. We won the series against South Africa. Everyone in the team knows their roles.

5:35pm local time: Bangladesh win the match by 6 wickets and lead the 3 match series by 1-0. Bangladesh retained their composure and won the game in a low-scoring contest that had few highs and lows for either squad. Even if the outcome would have been different had Pooran not unluckily lost two wickets against Mahmudullah, who hit an undefeated 41 on both occasions. Bangladesh got off to a fast start thanks to Tamim’s outstanding opening to the innings, Shanto’s useful knock, and later, Mahmudullah and Nurul’s vital combination, which propelled them beyond the finish line. Bangladesh still needs to make a lot of improvements, particularly in the batting and fielding areas, despite winning the game.

Despite having a stellar debut, Motie only took one wicket while bowling. The batsmen for West Indies need to up their game and learn from their errors from this encounter.
