Australia will square up against Bangladesh in the 34th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Thursday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While Bangladesh are out of the contentions for reaching the semi-finals, Australia are very much in the race.

In 3 matches, Australia have managed to win twice and thus are sitting at number three on the points table in Group 1. Australia made a rollicking start to their campaign with two consecutive wins against West Indies and Sri Lanka. However, a high-flying Australia were thrown back to the ground by England in what was their third game of the competition on Saturday.

A clinical bowling display from England bowlers helped the team bundle out Australia for just 125 runs in the first innings. Aaron Finch compiled 44 off 49 balls but there was little contribution from other batsmen in the line-up.

The other four batsmen in the top five scored 8 runs combined. England chased down the score quite comfortably in 11.4 overs, thanks to a sensational knock from Jos Buttler, who scored 71 runs off 32 deliveries. Australia would want to forget the memories of the match and walk into the field with a fresh mindset. All the games will be must-wins for Australia from here on. Expect Australia to exhibit strong performance on Thursday.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are languishing at the bottom of the table. They came close twice but failed to end up on the winning side. Bangladesh are yet to win a game in the Super 12 stage. Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the tournament. Mustafizur Rahman was rested in the last game.

South Africa’s fast bowling duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada ran through Bangladesh’s batting line up. The duo picked 6 wickets together, helping West Indies bundled out Bangladesh for just 84 runs. Liton Das (24 of 36) and Mahedi Hasan (27 off 25) showed some fight but besides that, there wasn’t any notable contribution from the batsmen.

Bangladesh seamer, Taskin Ahmed exhibited a sensational spell of fast bowling in the second innings. He took the key wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram, while giving away just 18 runs in his four overs.

However, 84-run total was never going to be enough to defend as South Africa eventually chased down the score in 13.3 overs. Bangladesh have a solitary match remaining and they would look to end the tournament on a winning note.
