Ambati Rayudu Not Retiring, Confirms CSK CEO As He Reveals The Reason Behind Batsman’s Tweet

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has cleared the air surrounding Ambati Rayudu’s future with the franchise. The veteran batsman raised a number of eyebrows on Saturday (May 14) when he took to Twitter to announce the decision of his retirement. Announcing the decision, the 36-year old thanked Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. And as if the tweet was not enough to surprise the cricket fraternity, Rayudu went on to delete it soon.
“I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey,” Rayudu had said in his tweet.
Unsurprisingly, the series of events has taken the cricket world by surprise. The social media is filled with queries from the fans as they try to find the reason behind Rayudu’s action. More than his tweet, his decision to delete it has surprised the fans. And as Rayudu’s tweet and its subsequent deletion has become the talk of the town, Kasi Viswanathan has revealed the reason behind the same. Talking to News9, the CSK chief executive has insisted that Rayudu is not retiring.
Vishwanathan further explained the reason behind Rayudu’s tweet. He stated that the batsman might have done it due to his indifferent performance this season. Calling Rayudu’s action a ‘psychological thing’ while confirming that the right-handed batsman would continue to stay with the franchise, Vishwanathan said:
“No no he’s not retiring. Maybe he wasn’t happy with his performances and might have put it out. Just a psychological thing, I reckon. He’ll be with us.”
Ambati Rayudu’s performance in IPL 2022:
Ambati Rayudu has not managed to perform as per expectations in the ongoing season. In 10 innings, he has managed to score 271 runs at a modest average of 27.10 and a strike rate of 124.31. Just like him, CSK have also not done well this season. The defending champions are already out of the playoffs race. At present, they are languishing at the ninth spot in the points table with just 4 wins from 12 games.
