In a thrilling encounter at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Even though the game was heavily dominated by the batters, the Orange Cap list has only seen one change throughout.

Brook scores the first century of the season

Even though hosts KKR lost the game, the fans at Eden Gardens were delighted as they witnessed the first century of the season. Harry Brook smashed an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad to a total of 228 in 20 overs. Before this game, Brook only had 29 runs in 3 games, The pressure was on the Englishman to justify his huge price point of Rs. 13.25 Crores and the right-handed did exactly the same. He took the attack to KKR pacers and didn’t let them settle. He played cautiously against the spinners and tried to compensate for the same by berating the pacers. Brook hit 12 fours and 3 gigantic sixes in his inning of 100 runs. Even though Brook has not made it into the top 10, he has set the tone of the league on a high note.

Rinku played well but couldn’t finish

Rinku Singh, who has established himself as one of the best finishers in the season had almost finished the game for KKR but failed at the last moment. Rinku fought hard with an unbeaten 58 off 31 balls, but Sunrisers Hyderabad held their nerve and clinched a crucial victory. Even though KKR lost the game, Rinku was aptly rewarded for his heroics. Being a constant performer for KKR this season, Rinku has found himself in the 8th spot in the Orange Cap list. Rinku is now KKR’s highest run scorer this season with 156 runs to his name in 4 games at an average of 78.
