Page 8 – ASICS RACE FOR THE HODGE TROPHY UPDATE – Iowa’s three-time NCAA champ and two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner Spencer Lee was among 19 undefeated All-Americans or highly-ranked wrestlers considered mid-season candidates to win the coveted award.
Page 12 – IOWA USA WRESTLING NOTEBOOK – Wrestlers aged 6U up to 14U, coaches and clubs in Iowa should get ready for the annual Iowa/USA State Wrestling Folkstyle Championships and Heartland Duals, while new freestyle coach Cruse Aarhus is ready to lead.
Page 14 – IKWF/IL-USA WRESTLING NOTEBOOK – North Central College near Chicago won the first-ever Midlands women’s championship while Junior Rams Chase Pool, Demetrius Copeland and Alyce Stone are spotlighted.
Page 15 – WASHINGTON STATE WRESTLING ASSOCIATION – Okanogan High School coach Martin Mitchell is successfully showing other coaches around the country how both boys and girls wrestling programs can flourish.
Page 16 – USA WRESTLING KANSAS NOTEBOOK – The Treaster wrestling family continues to excel within the state, which also prepares to host the “Granddaddy of Them All” Tournament of Champions in Salina.
Page 17 – KEN KRAFT MIDLANDS – Princeton’s defending national runner-up Quincy Monday, who first announced in the preseason that he would return to 157 pounds, used the prestigious tournament to show he can also contend at 165 this March.
Page 18 – SOUTHERN SCUFFLE – Oklahoma State, coming off one of it’s lowest NCAA finishes in 2022, started the New Year in Chattanooga on a winning note, coming away with a third team championship at this national event.
Page 19 – SOLDIER SALUTE – Iowa won eight individual titles at the first annual event, held in Coralville, while one of the bigger stories was the continuing vision of Think Iowa City president Josh Schamberger on creating new events for the sport.
Page 34 – UNLIMITED DESIRE FOR PENNSYLVANIA BIG MAN – No challenge was bigger for Towanda wrestler Audy Vanderpool, who first had to lose over 100 pounds simply to make weight, before being successful on the mat as a heavyweight.
Page 41 – NWCA MULTI-DIVISION NATIONAL DUALS – St. Cloud State (Div. II), Augsburg (Div. III) and Grand View (NAIA) added to their list of team titles in Louisville, where Bellarmine (NCWA), King (NCAA women) and Southern Oregon (NAIA women) also were champs.
Page 48 – RMN EVENTS OUTWEST FEATURE – Tyger Taam, an 18U Rocky Mountain Nationals champ from last season, brings his Hawaiian traditions with him when he competes in and sometimes win events on the mainland.
