How to Save Twitter GIFs From Any Device
[ad_1]
Be it an educational GIF, a fun meme, or some clueless cat in a video, you’ll eventually want to save Twitter GIFs to share them on other social media sites. This tutorial shows how to save a Twitter GIF on Twitter. Or X. Whichever you prefer to call it, on whichever device you’re using.
FYI: would you rather create your own GIF? Learn how to make your own GIF without installing any apps.
Saving Twitter GIFs on Your Phone
The gist for doing this on Android is to copy the address link to the Twitter GIF and paste it into another app that can download that. On an iPhone, it may be better to just search for the GIF itself outside of Twitter, as there currently aren’t any methods or workarounds that work on iOS.
Download and install the third-party app, to have it ready. We are using Video Downloader for Twitter. Open the tweet in the X app, tap the Share button, then tap “Copy link to tweet.”

You can do the same on the Twitter Lite app.

Open the third-party app, and it will typically paste the copied Twitter link in the input bar for you. If it doesn’t, click the “Paste Link” button. Then, click “Download.”

Saving Twitter GIFs on a Browser
At the time of writing, using browser-based tools to save Twitter GIFs is the best method for desktop. You don’t need to install anything, and OS environments will never be an issue as long as you can browse the Web. They’ll work whether you’re on a Mac or Windows device.
Copy the link for the tweet that contains the Twitter GIF you want to download.

Click on the “Download” button.
Good to know: you can schedule your tweets with ease via email.
Downloading Twitter GIFs to a Chromebook
Chromebooks, by design, will delete your Downloads folder every now and then. If you were planning to hoard cat GIFs to view them later, this may make your downloading efforts futile.
Make sure your GIFs don’t disappear next week by moving them to My Drive so that they’re saved in Google’s cloud servers.
For future Twitter GIF downloads, you may want to make Chrome ask where to save your file every time you hit the “Download button.”
Press the three dots in the upper-right corner, then select “Settings.”

To change the default download destination folder, click on “Change,” then select a folder from the pop-up window.
