Zaka Ashraf, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, who recently took over from Najam Sethi, made a comical error at the Asia Cup 2023 schedule unveiling event in Lahore.

After Shah said last year that India would not be flying to Pakistan for the event, this year’s competition will be a 50-over affair and contested in a hybrid format. After several months of threats, discussion, and negotiations, it was decided that Sri Lanka would host the remaining matches of the tournament, including the championship match, while Pakistan would host four of them.

On August 30, a game between Pakistan and Nepal will kick off the competition in Multan, Pakistan. On September 2, the eagerly anticipated match between India and Pakistan will take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The second group stage match will take place against Nepal on September 4 at the same location.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, His Name Comes In The Top 10 Batters: Zaka Ashraf

While speaking about the Pakistani team at the schedule announcing event, Ashraf made the amusing error of referring to fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi as a top 10 hitter.

“There is strength in both our batting and bowling. If you talk about batting, our captain [Babar Azam] is number one [ranked batter] in the world. If you talk about others, then Pakistan batters are among the top-five [in the rankings]. If you talk about Shaheen Shah Afridi, his name comes in the top 10 batters. So, the way Pakistan team is playing, my best wishes are with them,” Ashraf said during the PCB ceremony.

As far as rankings are concerned, Pakistan captain Babar is ranked number 1 in the ICC ODI rankings, and Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq are third and fourth in the ranking table.
