Jaiswal is the 13th India opener to score a half-century on Test debut. Only two India openers – Shikhar Dhawan in 2013 and Prithvi Shaw in 2018 – have scored centuries on Test debut. Overall, 16 India batters have scored centuries on Test debut, with the last three – Rohit, Shaw and Shreyas Iyer – happening to come from Mumbai. Jaiswal, already halfway there, will hope to make it four in a row.
