405 players picked for in IPL 2023 auction; 273 Indians and 132 overseas cricketers part of list

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the final list of players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini auction, which will be held in Kohli on December 23. While 991 players had registered for auction initially, the organizers have pruned the list to 405. The initial final list had names of 369 players, but an additional 36 players added to the auction on franchises’ request.
Out of 405 players, 273 are Indian cricketers, while 132 are overseas players – four of them from the associate nations. The list includes 119 capped players, 282 uncapped players and four from the associate nations.
There are a maximum of 87 slots to be filled, 30 of them can be overseas slots. As per the updated list released by BCCI on Tuesday, December 13, there are 19 players in the top bracket of Rs 2 crore – Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green being the prominent names. Eleven players are in the Rs 1.5 crore bracket. This list includes Harry Brook, Adam Zampa and Jason Roy. England’s Joe Root and India’s Mayank Agarwal are among the 20 players in the Rs 1 crore bracket.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, only the first 86 players will go up for auction with certainty. The accelerated process that will commence from player No. 87. The website quoted a communique to the franchises by BCCI as saying, “For your planning purposes please note, subject to timings it is envisaged that the accelerated process will start after player No. 86. The first accelerated process will cover all the players from 87 – 405.
“Franchises will be asked to nominate a set number of players from this group. Once these players (87-405) have been presented, franchises will be requested to submit the names of players (unpresented/unsold) from all those on the full list of 405 for further accelerated process. This will be covered in more detail at the auction briefing on 22nd December 2022.”
The 2023 IPL auction is likely to begin in Kochi at 2.30 PM IST.

Players with Rs 1.5 crore base price: Sean Abott, Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson, Adam Zampa, Shakib Al Hasan, Harry Brook, Will Jacks, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Sherfane Rutherford, Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Players with Rs 1 crore base price: Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Moises Henriques, Andrew Tye, Joe Root, Luke Wood, Michael Bracewell, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Heinrich Klaasen, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kusal Perera, Roston Chase, Rakheem Cornwall, Shai Hope, David Wiese.
